Rapper Dank Demoss Opens Up About Emotional Impact Of Her Viral Lyft Lawsuit: ‘I Have Very Tough Skin’

Dank Demoss, a Detroit rapper, is speaking out after a Lyft driver allegedly denied her a ride due to her size, sparking a lawsuit against the company.

Speaking with The Breakfast Club, Demoss, whose real name is Dajua Blanding, explained the incident. She shared,

“This is the first time this has ever happened. I always order the regular cars, I don’t have to order an Uber or Lyft XL.”

She added,

“I don’t have a big person’s mindset, I’m skinny in my head.”

On the emotional impact of her story going viral, Demoss said,

“I’ve been going through this all my life. I don’t feel like I need to overstimulate myself with the comments or respond. I have very tough skin.”

As for whether the situation has affected her music career, Demoss shared,

“I am going wherever God takes me. It helped my streaming.”

Earlier this month, Demoss requested a Lyft to attend a Detroit Lions watch party, but when the driver arrived and saw her, he allegedly refused to give her a ride due to her size.

She captured the interaction on video, with the rapper saying, “I can fit in this car.” The driver responded, claiming his tires couldn’t handle the weight, apologizing, and suggesting she order an Uber XL instead.

Despite Lyft attempting to reach out and apologize for the incident, Demoss hired attorneys Jonathan Marko and Zach Runyan to sue the company for discrimination.
