Dame Dash’s Film Empire, Including ‘State Property, Set For Auction To Settle $4 Million Defamation Judgment
Damon Dash might soon lose control of his film empire, including the Hip-Hop classic State Property.
A court-approved public auction is being held to settle a $4 million defamation judgment Dash owes to filmmaker Josh Webber. One of the most valuable assets up for grabs is State Property, the 2002 street drama that starred Beanie Sigel, Freeway, and Jay-Z.
Also on the auction block are State Property 2, the 2007 documentary Mr. Untouchable, and Dash’s ownership in several companies and copyrights to various films and screenplays.

The situation stems from Dash’s dispute with Webber over the film Dear Frank. After failing to respond to an earlier $800,000 judgment, Dash was hit with a $4 million default ruling in March 2025 for defamation, after he accused Webber and his attorney of theft.
Back in December 2024, Dash’s one-third stake in Roc-A-Fella Records was sold to help pay off his debts… but it wasn’t enough.
The auction date has not yet been announced.
