Sen. Elizabeth Warren Demands Investigation Into Paramount’s $16 Million Settlement w/ Donald Trump, Cites Potential Bribery
Senator Elizabeth Warren is urging a federal investigation into Paramount Global’s $16 million settlement with Donald Trump, calling it “bribery in plain sight.”
The payment resolved a lawsuit over a “60 Minutes” segment involving Kamala Harris, which legal experts deemed meritless.
“Paramount has refused to provide answers to a congressional inquiry,” Warren said. “I’m calling for a full investigation into whether or not any anti-bribery laws were broken.”
Senator Bernie Sanders warned the settlement sets “an extremely dangerous precedent,” while Senator Ron Wyden labeled it a “bribe for merger approval.” Paramount denies any connection between the settlement and its pending merger.
