Prayers Up! Lionel Richie Cuts First Night Of New Tour Short After Becoming Sick During Minnesota Performance
#LionelRichie’s new tour got off to a rocky start Wednesday night (June 25) when the 77-year-old legend was forced to cut the show short after becoming dizzy mid-performance.
Appearing at the Grand Casino Arena in St. Paul, #Minnesota, on the opening night of his Sing a Song All Night Long Tour with Earth, Wind & Fire, Richie sat down during a performance of “Dancing on the Ceiling.” He addressed the crowd directly about his condition, telling concertgoers, “When you’re feeling dizzy, sit your *ss down.”
He then moved to the piano to perform “Three Times a Lady” before calling an unplanned intermission, but never returned to the stage. Saxophonist Dino Soldo delivered the news to the audience, saying, “Unfortunately, Lionel is not feeling well. Additional information will be available.” Richie’s reps have not yet addressed the health scare or abrupt cancellation.
