Drake Meets Up With ‘Janices’ From Texas After Launching Apology Parties Inspired By His Hit Song
Drake is following through on his promise to make amends with women named Janice.
The rapper recently shared an Instagram Story showing himself posing with three women at dinner, captioning the photo, “Kicking it off with these 3 Janice’s from TX.” The gathering comes just days after Drake announced he would be hosting “Janice apology parties” in multiple cities for women who legally share the name.
The idea stems from Drake’s chart-topping single “Janice STFU,” one of the breakout records from his Iceman album. While the song became a massive hit, Drake joked that he owed every Janice an apology for putting the name front and center in the track’s title. He announced plans to host exclusive events for Janices in Houston, New York, Los Angeles, Miami and Toronto, inviting attendees to enjoy food, drinks and prizes. Those who didn’t receive an invitation in the mail were encouraged to RSVP with proof that their legal first name is Janice.
Judging by Drake’s latest post, the Houston celebration is officially underway, with the rapper kicking things off alongside three Texas Janices.
