Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s Widow Sues His Mother For $1.2 Million, Claims “Cosby Show” Star Failed To Honor Prenup

Tenisha Warner, widow of #TheCosbyShow actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner, has filed a lawsuit against his mother, Pamela Warner, who now oversees the Warner Family Trust as trustee.

As reported, Malcolm drowned during a vacation in #CostaRica on July 20, 2025, at age 54. On the anniversary of his shocking passing, Tenisha filed a lawsuit claiming that under a prenuptial agreement the couple signed in May 2022, just before their wedding, Malcolm committed to several financial provisions he never fully delivered — including a $1 million life insurance policy naming her as sole beneficiary, annual tax-free payments of $16,000, contributions to a Roth IRA, and a $5,000 monthly salary for her work as his chief of staff and assistant.

Tenisha says the outstanding total comes to roughly $1.28 million, broken down as $1 million for the unfunded insurance policy, over $50,000 in missed anniversary payments, $30,500 tied to the IRA, and about $195,000 in unpaid salary. Because she believes Malcolm’s estate lacks sufficient funds to cover these obligations, she’s asking the court to let her pursue the money through the family trust instead — along with interest, legal fees, and a freeze preventing Pamela from distributing trust assets until the matter is resolved.
