Daejon Love, Man Accused Of Posing As 49ers Player & Scamming Women Out Of $1.3 Million, Called ‘Serious Flight Risk’ By Feds

Daejon Love, the man accused of posing as a San Francisco 49ers player while allegedly scamming women out of more than $1 million, could remain behind bars as his federal case moves forward.

Federal prosecutors are asking a judge to keep Love detained, arguing that he is a “serious flight risk” and has “every incentive to flee” if released. According to TMZ, prosecutors described Love as “nomadic,” alleging he traveled through six states in the weeks before his arrest, frequently stayed in hotels and did not have a permanent address. They also cited his alleged use of multiple aliases and false identities.

As previously reported, Love, 35, and alleged accomplice Taylor Jamie Chan, 18, are accused of carrying out a years-long romance and investment scheme that allegedly took roughly $1.3 million from at least 26 women. Authorities claim Love met women through dating apps and allegedly portrayed himself as an NFL player for the 49ers or a wealthy investor. Chan allegedly posed as his financial adviser while the pair convinced women to put money into bogus investments. The FBI believes there could be additional victims.

Love and Chan were arrested at Boise Airport on Aug. 24 and face federal charges of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Prosecutors also allege Love staged an apparent NFL contract signing and used images of luxury cars, homes and other displays of wealth to help sell his alleged fake lifestyle. Both men remain accused and have not been convicted of the charges.
