Ryan Coogler’s “The X-Files” Reboot Picked Up To Series At Hulu
#RyanCoogler is officially bringing “The X-Files” back to television!
#Hulu has given the “Sinners” filmmaker’s highly anticipated reboot a series order, with Emmy nominee Himesh Patel and actress Danielle Deadwyler set to star. The reimagined series will follow two highly decorated but vastly different #FBI agents who form an unlikely partnership after being assigned to a long-shuttered division investigating unexplained phenomena. Coogler wrote, directed, and executive produced the pilot, with Jennifer Yale serving as showrunner and original series creator Chris Carter also joining as an executive producer.
The exciting announcement comes more than three years after Carter first revealed plans for the reboot in 2023. Speaking about the project, Coogler shared, “I’ve loved The #XFiles for a long time, so getting the chance to write and direct the pilot has meant a great deal to me.” He also emphasized the importance of honoring the original while bringing a fresh perspective to the beloved franchise. The original “X-Files,” starring Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny as FBI agents Dana Scully and Fox Mulder, premiered in 1993 and ran for nine seasons before spawning two films and a two-season revival in 2016.
