Terrence Howard Predicts Hollywood Actors Will Be Replaced By AI: ‘You Can’t Compete With Inevitability

Terrence Howard believes Hollywood is heading toward a future where artificial intelligence could replace actors and change how movies are made.

The “Empire” star shared his prediction with TMZ on Tuesday while attending a Los Angeles event for his new film, “A Good Hand Wasted.” Asked about Hollywood’s production slowdown, Howard suggested the industry is facing a transformation that could leave many performers struggling to find work.

Rather than treating AI as a temporary trend, Howard compared the moment to the transition from silent films, when technological advances permanently changed entertainment. He warned that traditional acting opportunities could eventually disappear as studios increasingly rely on new technology.

Still, Howard does not believe resisting the shift will accomplish much. He argued that “you can’t compete with inevitability,” explaining that the changes ahead are not automatically bad, even if established stars lose opportunities.

As an example, Howard referenced Netflix’s $587 million acquisition of InterPositive, an AI filmmaking company founded by Ben Affleck. The deal, announced in March, reflects the growing investment in tools that can streamline film production, although the company says its technology is intended to support filmmakers rather than replace them.

Howard believes independent filmmakers and artists could become increasingly important as Hollywood adapts.

The actor has also been thinking about possibilities beyond entertainment. During a TMZ interview in New York last week, he discussed the idea of running for president.
