Kelly Rowland Says ‘Dirty Laundry’ Was VERY Emotional, Took Her Days to Record + Was Nelly’s Manager the Alleged Abusive Ex Boyfriend?
Fresh off the release of ‘Dirty Laundry,’ Kelly Rowland is revealing how painful the song was to record. This week, the 32-year-old singer released the new single from her forthcoming album, ‘Talk A Good Game’ in stores next month. In the song, the singer is emotional and confronts her deepest thoughts on the record, including being envious of Destiny’s Child group member Beyonce’s success and being in an abusive relationship. She explained:
It was very emotional. It took me days to record. I had to get past being so upset and actually sing the
song, not sob through it. I always hope that my music can inspire someone, the same way other artists inspire me. Dream said, ‘I want to write you a record so that people will know exactly who you are, underneath it all.’
Producer of the candid record, The Dream says he had to ‘push’ the songstress to step out of her zone to record the song stating:
What unfolds on TV or on the Internet, it’s never really that. You think it is but it’s just not. When you have a stage like Kelly has, you should talk about that part of your life. I think Kelly’s way deeper than that.
Meanwhile, the speculation around the man who was allegedly abusive to Kelly continues. Initially, when the song dropped, folk thought the singer was referring to ex fiance, Roy Williams. Roy took to twitter, pointing the finger at another man, Nelly’s manager, Cudda Love.
Madame Noire reports:
Cudda or Cudda Love, was Nelly’s manager/body guard back in the day…or maybe still today. (There’s not too much info on him right now.) But we suspect all that to change. This would make the most sense. Kelly mentioned that this relationship took place a decade ago. Which would have been around 2003, when she and Nelly recorded “Dilemma” and was subsequently spending a lot of time around Nelly and his crew.
And here’s a vintage photo of Cudda.
Interesting. Anwyho, Rowland’s fourth album will be in stores June 18. She will be touring The Dream this summer on the ‘Lights Out’ tour which is schedule to kick off May 24 in Kansas City.
