You’ve seen them, heard their voices and if you’ve ever been to a Beyonce concert are fully aware that they shine bright during the Mrs. Carter Show, but it’s rare that we hear from them off the stage. Recently, Beyonce’s back-up singers, The Mama’s, gave a rare interview with Hot 97’s, Ebro. The trio, consisting of tenor Crystal Collins, soprano Tiffany Monique, and alto Montina, have been a part of Bey’s camp for quite some time. Check out a few excerpts of their interview where they share plans on releasing their own album, working with B behind the scenes and more.

On Beyonce’s sick work ethic:

Chrissy: That girl works hard.

Tiffany: Like the production rehearsals are crazy. We may work 16 hours that day but the crazy thing about B is, before we come in she’s there and when we leave, she s still there.  And when we come in the next day, she’s there.

On what a regular day is like for them:

Chrissy: We’ll split up, its everything. The band is working on their thing, because we have an itinerary,  and we work on what we have to work on and getting our notes.

Tiffany: It’s such a big production. We work on our vocals and then we get on stage and blend that together with the band then the dancers come on stage and we work on the actual production itself. So, there’s so many different components. Mamas do choreography, so we work on our choreography.

Chrissy: You can’t be with B and not have no steps now!

On Beyonce allowing them to shine and not being intimated by others’ talent:

Chrissy: That’s what I love about her! She gives everybody their shine and she believes in us and she loves us so we love her.

Tiffany: Yea, she’s not intimidated by talent. In fact she likes to showcase it like she know she’s confident and what she has to offer but she’s just as proud of the team behind her.

Montina : And I think she knows that it takes a team to make something that big work . So everybody on her team is exceptionally talented. There’s no scrubs!

Chrissy: Ain’t no scrubs here boo!

On plans for them to drop an album:

All: Yeah, We’re working on that.

All: No, were going to.

On if Beyonce will allow them time to work on the album:

Montina: You know what, she would support because that’s the type of artist she is.
