[EXCLUSIVE] Don King Sues Boxing Promoter Over Failed Guillermo Jones Fight

The agreement states that Don King would be paid 800k + minimum revenue from the fight, which was to be paid with 225k paid to King immediately and the remaining 550k to be put in an escrow account. King says that WOB took on all risks if the fight didn’t go through and that meant WOB would make the majority of the money from the fight and King would make the majority from giving them Jones.

King explains he was to be paid the 800k, no matter if the fight took place or not.

Then on April 23rd, the boxers had to submit to a drug test where Jones failed and tested positive for diuretic furosemide. Then Ryabinskiy cancelled the fight despite the ruling of the boxing officials,  who decided to NOT cancel the bout.

King says that following the fight being cancelled, WOB has not instructed the escrow agent to pay him the 550k in the account. King is suing for breach of contract and demanding the money he is owed.

The legal battle filed by King is in response to WOB slapping him with a 2.4 million legal action earlier this year, claiming his fight failed the drug test and it was his fault the fight was cancelled.
