CBS Tells Artists: ‘No Nipples, Genitals Or Exposed Booties’ At Grammy’s Awards Show
The days of Lil Kim wearing only a petal-pasty (the best part was Diana Ross poking it with her finger at the MTV VMA’s), or Jennifer Lopez (circa 2000) wearing a d*mn shear gown, are OVER. Compliments of Deadline, we’ve learned that a memo from CBS has leaked, urging music industry attendees to keep the upcoming Grammy’s visually, appropriate.
The statement reads:
“Please be sure that buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered.Thong type costumes are problematic. Please avoid exposing bare fleshy under curves of the buttocks and buttock crack. Bare sides or under curvature of the breasts is also problematic. Please avoid sheer see-through clothing that could possibly expose female breast nipples. Please be sure the genital region is adequately covered so that there is no visible `puffy’ bare skin exposure. OBSCENITY OR PARTIALLY SEEN OBSCENITY ON WARDROBE IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR BROADCAST.”
So who actually received the memo? Reportedly, the memo was not approved and was never meant to be distributed, but serve as a guide for staff. The memo was distributed by a low-level staffer in the network’s standards and practices department, tasked with keeping the airwaves free of obscenities and nudity. Long story short, the Grammy’s want y’all favorite celebs to ‘Keep It Classy, San Diego’…will it happen? We’ll see on Sunday!
