[INTERVIEW] The Game Talks Reality TV, Life Away From the Spotlight & Why His Daughter Makes Him Cry
Gearing up for his second season on his reality TV gig, we recently caught up with rapper The Game (real name Jayceon Taylor) during ESPY’s week. The 33-year-old (who’s been doing all types of TV like ‘The Real’ and hosting TMZ) California native chatted about what folk can expect on this season’s ‘Marrying the Game’, life away from the public eye and why his daughter makes him cry. We even got a glimpse of his new stylist (which some have linked to him romantically) Lola, who gave us a quick ‘heyyy girl’ during the interview. Check out our conversation below.
So I wanna ask about the reality show – coming out with the second season. What’s it gonna be like? What’s going to be different from the first season?
The reality show – you know – is my life. We just – as a couple, as a family – this reality show, we’re trying to do our co-parenting thing and trying to figure out “Us” in the meantime and we’re just loving it.
What’s the biggest challenge in terms of being on reality TV? Because you are an artist – now we really get even more into your personal business.
It ain’t no challenge. I just do this sh*t, you know what I’m saying? I’m just out here living and it’s easy to live – you wake up and you breathe. What’s so hard about that?
What’s it like when the cameras are off and you’re not in front of a bunch of people and cameras, what’s life like for you?
The same when the camera’s on. It’s like – you know – ain’t no – there’s no separation. I am who I am 24 hours a day. I live, I chill, I’m a people’s person and that’s how I stay afloat.
What’s the most expensive piece of clothing that you’ve ever bought yourself?
Most expensive clothing? Probably I bought this jacket for about like, $20,000 one time.
You said it so casually like, that was….
It’s just $20,000, that’s cool.
When was the last time you cried?
Last time I’d cried was probably every time I look into my daughter’s eyes – you know – a tear or I either I get them in the tear ducts or it actually falls but yeah, my daughter man. I look into her eyes and I just see so much that as a parent, you just tear up.
How old were you the first time you had sex – ever in life?
First time I’ve had sex in my life – I don’t remember. It’s been so long. But ever since then, I’ve been twerking out here.
What does God mean to you?
God means God – it’s simple. Everybody knows – you know- everybody has their own perceptions and can come up with a million things but like I said, God means God.
