[Audio] Kandi Burruss Explains Why Her Spin-Off Show Was Canceled, Says Reality Stars Don’t Deserve A Hollywood Star
Kandi Burruss is pretty busy these days. From her uber successful sex toy line ‘Bedroom Kandi’, clothing boutiques and upcoming premiere of her first stage play ‘A Mother’s Love’ starring former Danity Kane member D. Woods, Burruss is always on the move. Recently, correspondent theJasmineBRAND.com correspondent Sabrina Campbell caught with the Atlanta native. We chatted with her about why her Bravo spinoff, ‘The Kandi Factory‘ was canceled, rumors that there are spin-off plans to film her wedding (to fiancee Todd Tucker) and why reality stars don’t deserve a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Peep our conversation below.
We are enjoying the show, ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ but I have to ask you about your spinoff – what happened? Was it your call for the show not to return?
Well, no. To be honest with you, we didn’t really have a final conversation about it so I just assumed that they were like, “Why did you tell people that I wasn’t being real because they didn’t tell me that”. It was kind of like I assumed that we hadn’t been talking about it so I was like, “So okay, well I guess we’re not doing it.”
I know that you can’t spill too many beans about this but I know that you’re obviously engaged. Are you going to have a spinoff for the wedding or you’re keeping it low-key?
Well right now we haven’t made the decision to that, so I’m not sure. For me it’s not that great of an idea just because we’ve got to add a stretcher to a day that’s already stressful. Plus, I have a lot of craziness going on in my family around the whole subject of me getting married, so I’m dealing with all of that.
Reality T.V. has been getting really big so do you think that it’s time for reality T.V. stars to get our stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame?
I don’t know about all that. I don’t really think that that would… To me, I don’t really see – not just for being a reality T.V. star, you’ve to be doing something other than reality just in order to get a star on the Walk of Fame. I mean to me, with reality, they’re just being themselves and they’re a little crazy. Some of the people who are on the Hollywood Walk of Fame – to me, they’ve really worked hard to earn that. So I don’t know about this.. that’s different.
If you took any piece of advice from an ex-boyfriend or ex-husband, or whatever it is, what would it be? Like, the best piece of advice that you can remember?
Uh-oh. Well one of my exes told me, “If you don’t stop letting your mom controlling your relationships, then you’re never gonna be happy.” And then my current fiancée just said the same thing. So I don’t know, maybe that’s something.
What is the most annoying interview question that you’re often asked?
My most annoying – oh, about Xscape. “When are we going to get back together? Why we broke up?” and …
Wel
Well just because I don’t know – I guess because you keep me in the same courtship over and over again, that’s kind of like – ngeh, so…
