[WATCH] Lil Mama Joins TLC On Stage for ‘Waterfalls’, Performance Garners Mixed Reviews

41st Annual American Music Awards - Press Room

It’s been over ten years since we’ve watched Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopez perform with her TLC group members, Chilli and T-Boz. After dying tragically in a car accident in Honduras, Lisa’s family, friends and fans are forced to hold onto every memory of the rapper/singer. Last month, when VH1’s ‘Crazy Sexy Cool: The TLC Story‘ was released, the legacy that she and TLC left behind, was remembered via artists and actresses Lil Mama (who played Left-Eye), KeKe Palmer (who played Chilli) and Drew Sidora (who played T-Boz). The trio playing TLC seemed to be able to remind fans of the Grammy-Award winning group, helping TLC revive and produce new music.

Left-Eye is dead and gone from this earth. They love and respect her but life goes on. They have the right to replace her.

I thought she did good but she needs to practice a little more because she got winded. It could have been nerves, those are some very large shoes to fill

Lil Mama is obviously no Left-Eye but I think her performance was good, just as it was in the movie and it’s commendable that T-Boz & Chilli want to keep their girl’s spirit and presence alive. They’ve made it very clear that there is no “replacement”, so I don’t look at Lil Mama in any other way. It’s not like she’s horribly representing – and she’s still maintaining her own identity. But I hear y’all on the fact that it is sad that she’s more famous from repping Left-Eye than her own self. Maybe a huge blessing from Lisa’s spirit, if you think about how many girls went thru the process of the movie & even when they were considering trying to find another group member.

I think Lil Mama did and AWESOME job. They aren’t trying to replace her, but she did a great job representing her.

Lil Mama is just that Lil Mama. She is representing herself, but they did acknowledge Left eye which was great. She did get a little winded, but did a good job incorporating her own flavor to the song.

I think she was great in the movie. But,that should be the end of it.Sometimes I think we can take something and drag it out.I thought she was trying a little too hard. She seems like the type of person that would let this go to her head.Enough already, the movie is done and over with.So should she.Go back and revive her own career.
