Former Top Model Yaya DaCosta to Play Whitney Houston
Yaya DaCosta (real name Camara DaCosta Johnson) has landed the role of Whitney Houston, in the upcoming biopic about the late singer’s life. As previously reported, Angela Bassett will direct the film, which will air on Lifetime.
The movie, made for TV, will reportedly chronicle Whitney’s volatile relationship with her then-husband, singer-songwriter Bobby Brown.
When news hit about the film, Whitney’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina, openly criticized it, writing on Twitter:
Yaya is not new to TV or film. In 2004, she was on cycle 3 of America’s Next Top Model.
She’s also had recurring roles on All My Children and Ugly Betty. Yaya was also in Daniel Lee’s The Butler. Yaya has yet to confirm the news, but it has been reported by TV Line and is listed in her wiki. [TV Line]
