[VIDEO] Michelle Williams On Keyshia Cole, BET’s Blue Ivy Joke & Why She’s Never Been Jealous of Beyonce
Michelle Williams: She was never my friend, but she’s a woman and there’s respect there. So a long time ago, the Soul Train Awards was on and there was a lot going on my timeline that someone used autotune on their microphone. I didn’t know who so I was like ‘Really? You can use autotune on your mic?!’ and that was literally what it was. I hadn’t seen it, still haven’t seen her performance. Then loads of people replying back saying ‘Oh my god! You going in on Keyshia Cole!’ So I deleted the tweet because I didn’t know who it was at the time. So no, I did not personally attack so I deleted that because I don’t do that on social media.
The Breakfast Club: Are you in a relationship?
Michelle Williams: I’m happy.
The Breakfast Club: Are you next to get pregnant? Beyonce had Blue, Kelly is getting pregnant now. You about to get your club shot up?
Michelle Williams: I don’t know. I don’t know if I would make a good mom. I’m a little selfish. I don’t want to wake up. It’s 18 year of nurturing somebody.
The Breakfast Club: Do you get phone calls about Beyonce and Jay-Z asking about marital trouble?
Michelle Williams: So this guy DM’ed me on Twitter and he asked if she needs help because he mentioned something about Jay being darkness and not Christian. I told him if you DM me again, I’m going to put you on blast. I don’t like when people feel like they can be that comfortable. Whatever someone’s issue or problem, let them work it out, if there is an issue to be had. Everything is being said is out of line.
The Breakfast Club: Beyonce’s your sister. When BET talks about Blue Ivy in an insensitive way, how do you feel and respond to that?
Michelle Williams: I just feel like we worry about the wrong thing. You’re worried about someone else and how they want to decide to let their child wear their hair natural. We talked about this at church on Sunday. We have to be good stewards over our time. You spend your time worried about someone else problems or issues.
The Breakfast Club: Have you ever been jealous of Beyonce or Kelly? I know Kelly talked about her jealousy of Beyonce in her song.
Michelle Williams: I wouldn’t say jealous. What is for me is definitely for me. I can say I’ve never been jealous because I don’t think I’ve had the same pressure. Kelly grew up and is a founding member of Destiny’s Child. I think people have had that same expectation. I think they can always tell you I’ve always been comfortable in my lane. I’m happy with where I’m going. I’m happy about having longevity.
The Breakfast Club: How about management? Do you still keep in contact with Matthew Knowles?
Michelle Williams: He sent me a message telling me happy birthday, so yes.
The Breakfast Club: Do you feel you are still walking in your purpose?
Michelle Williams: Absolutely. I am more confident today about that. You have to accept and embrace your purpose and calling.
