[Photos] Gabrielle Union Hosts ‘Breast Party Every’ Tour
Actress Gabrielle Union hosted the ‘Breast Party Ever’ Tour in Miami, in collaboration with Planned Parenthood and BET Networks. Held at The Overtown Youth Center, the purpose of the tour is to raise awareness with early detection through self exams and screenings.
Breast cancer awareness is personal for Gabrielle. She promised her close friend Kristen Martinez who was diagnosed with an advanced form of the disease at the age of 31 and passed away five years later, that she’d continue to honor her memory. In 2012, she wrote a personal blog post on the Huffington Post sharing:
‘Fear can literally kill you. It killed me.’ These were the words my close friend Kristen Martinez said to me two years ago, just days before she died of cancer. Today, her memory is the driving force behind my commitment to increase awareness about breast cancer, especially among young women and women of color.
DJ D-Nice provided music for the evening, along with Doug E Fresh who performed.
[FYI: Gabrielle wore Cameo shorts and top, booties by Rachel Roy and a Chanel purse.] See more photos of the Breast Cancer Party on the next page.
