(EXCLUSIVE) Lil Wayne Slapped With $280k Lawsuit by Former Lawyer, Accused of Breaching Settlement
theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports, Lil Wayne’s former lawyer has headed back to court and slapped the rapper with a $280k lawsuit accusing him of screwing him over by breaching their settlement agreement and now the lawyer is demanding the court order the Young Money president to pay up ASAP.
Lawyer Michel Kramer of Michael B. Kramer & Associates filed a federal lawsuit against Lil Wayne and Young Money Entertainment earlier this month.
Kramer explained that Lil Wayne reached out to him for counsel back in July 2013 to provide help on several lawsuits he was dealing with including the legal battle with Birdman.
The lawyer said that for the past 4-5 years the rapper has had issues with Cash Money aka Birdman’s record label. Wayne eventually signed a retainer with the law firm in 2014 where he paid 20k upfront.
Kramer said he has represented Wayne in his lawsuit against Birdman along with several other legal disputes involving Young Money and the rapper. He explained he spent countless hours working on the cases and even traveled across the country helping Wayne.
However, he said that he sent invoices from November 2014 to October 2015 but did not get any response or payment from Wayne or Cash Money. He claims the rapper and his team informed him payment would eventually come.
The bills were never paid and the lawyer stopped working for the rapper in September 2015.
Kramer filed suit against Lil Wayne and Young Money for breach of contract and demanding $375,239 which is the balance on the unpaid invoices plus interest and attorney fees.
Then back in December, only a week after the lawyer filed the lawsuit, Kramer filed docs in the case dismissing the entire case and all claims against Lil Wayne in which he accused the rapper of screwing him out of hundreds of thousands. Wayne had yet to respond to the case in court.
Then on March 14th, Kramer headed back to court and slapped Lil Wayne and Young Money Entertainment with a brand new federal lawsuit.
The lawyer explains that he dropped his original lawsuit due to Lil Wayne and his label reaching a settlement with Kramer on December 22nd. The agreement that the rapper signed acknowledged that he owed his lawyer a total of $375,316 in past due attorney fees. However, the deal stated Wayne would only pay a total of $350k to settle all issues with his former lawyer.
The deal stated Wayne was to wire 50k to his lawyer by December 23rd, which he did send over to Kramer.
The remaining $300k was to be paid in monthly installments of $20k every month with the first payment due on January 23rd. However, the deal said if the rapper was late on one payment then the full $300k would be due immediately.
Kramer says his former client sent over the first monthly payment late and then stopped making the monthly payments. The total amount owed currently comes out to $280k. The lawyer is suing Wayne for breach of contract and demanding he be ordered to pay up the full 280k ASAP.
