J. Lo On Fashion Favorites, Teaming Up With Giuseppe

Jennifer Lopez (J.Lo) is one of the most recognizable names in the entertainment industry. She is most certainly a dancer, singer, choreographer, and actress, but Lopez is also very well-known for her foray into fashion with her own personal style and her Jennifer Lopez clothing line.

In a recent interview, the multi-talented entertainer and fashion enthusiast discussed her widely-recognized interest in fashion, how certain clothing items take her down memory lane, and her latest venture: a line of shoes with famed shoe designer Giuseppe Zanotti.

On her some of her favorites in fashion:

I love hoops, jeans, boots, and sparkle. If you look back to my first red-carpet days, it’s short, sparkly Versace dresses. I know everybody knows the green jungle dress, but I’m more about Versace’s chain mail and Swarovski crystal dresses, which I’ve been doing since back then.”

On how some items in her closet take her back in time:

I walk in and I see a hat or a pair of shoes or a coat, and I go, ‘Wow! I remember I was wearing that the day this happened, or I was walking down the street; or I heard this or my mom said that, or my boyfriend?…‘

On how her collaboration with Giuseppe Zanotti began:

I first met Giuseppe years ago, and I remember him just being a really sweet spirit. He came to my house. Even back then we talked about doing a collaboration together. We talked about different things, a music video I was about to do, all kinds of stuff. He went through my closet, and we sat in there. We were supposed to just meet and say hello, but he wound up staying for hours, and we just talked fashion.

On how she and Zanotti designed the variety in her new collection:

I have a certain sensibility about the way I dress and design, and I just kind of handed that to him. People really associate me with sparkle and a little bit of street edge and things like that. I wanted to make sure the collection had that, but then some [styles] feel very glam and high-end fashion.

On whether or not she would send Rihanna a pair of shoes from her collection:

Oh, my gosh, [Rihanna] is first on my list. It’s funny because I actually had that in my mind. I was like, ‘She sent me those boots [from Rihanna’s collab with Manolo Blahnik], and the minute my Giuseppes come out I’m sending her a pair.’
