Whoopi Tells Black Lives Matter Activist DeRay Mckesson: Get over yourself!
Whoopi Calls Out Deray Mckesson Over Film
Whoopi Goldberg spent part of The View’s “Hot Topics” segment to respond to a comment that political activist DeRay Mckesson made about the upcoming “Planet of the Apes” movie. DeRay tweeted and later deleted a comment about being offended by the lack of consciousness in Hollywood. See his tweet below.
He later explained why he deleted the tweet.
Whoopi responded to Deray’s initial tweets, stating:
DeRay, you need to go back and watch the 1968 original and check out what the apes were wearing. This has nothing to do with you. This was a movie about what happens when mankind doesn’t pay attention to the environment, to how we treat animals and each other.
She continued,
That’s what that movie was about. Get over yourself!
