‘Black Lightning’ Premieres to Major Ratings
Congratulations are in order for the new hit series, ‘Black Lightning’. On Tuesday, it premiered bringing in impressive numbers. They snagged 2.31 million total viewers and a 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic. Those numbers are the highest for any non-crossover episode of TV in the 9pm Tuesday night slot this season.
This marks the biggest success The CW has had at that time in quite a while. In fact, it was the most-watched series premiere for The CW since Legends of Tomorrow hauled in 3.2 million a couple of years ago.
Black Lightning is based on the DC Comics character of the same name. It was developed by Salim Akil and is executive produced by wife, Mara Brock Akil. It stars Cress Williams as the titular character alongside China Anne McClain, Nafessa Williams, Christine Adams, Marvin Jones III, Damon Gupton, and James Remar. The series sees the retired Black Lightning return to the hero life and its effects on his family life.
