Gabrielle Union’s ‘Bad Boys’ Spin-Off ‘L.A.’s Finest’ Not Picked Up By NBC
Gabrielle Union’s “Bad Boys” spin-off has received a slight setback. According to reports, this upfront season NBC has decided to pass on her pilot, titled LA’s Finest, which co-starred Jessica Alba. NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt explained their decision stating,
These are all tough calls. We did have an embarrassment of riches. And when we laid out the schedule and the calendar all season… it was a show that didn’t fit in the grand scheme of it.
The is already being shopped to other networks. Reportedly, the pilot was relatively expensive with a budget allegedly around $12 million.
The pilot was written by Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier and directed by Anton Cropper. The new series follows the Special Agent Syd Burnett character played by Union in 2003’s Bad Boys II movie as she moves to Los Angeles and joins the LAPD.
She’s partnered with Nancy McKenna (Alba), a working mom who can’t help but look at Syd’s freedom with some grass-is-greener envy.
