Drake Brings Meek Mill Out On Stage, Ending Beef [VIDEO]
Drake And Meek Mill Bury The Hatchet, Drake Brings Meek Out On Stage
The weekend’s hip-hop related beefs took a pause when Drake and Meek Mill made headlines. The two, who had been beefing since 2015, officially called a truce in front of an arena full of concertgoers in Boston.
Meek Mill and Drake haven’t seen eye to eye since Meek claimed that Drake had a ghostwriter in the summer of 2015. Meek tweeted,
“Stop comparing Drake to me too…. He don’t write his own raps! That’s why he ain’t tweet my album because we found out.”
He continued,
“He ain’t even write that verse on my album and if I woulda knew I woulda took it off my album….. I don’t trick my fans! Lol”
The allegations drove Drake to respond, releasing diss tracks “Charged Up” and “Back To Back” shortly before performing the latter at his annual OVO Fest. The two remained at odds until Meek Mill went back to prison for violating probation. While incarcerated, Drake took the opportunity to offer Meek Mill well-wishes during a concert in Australia in November. He pointed to a fan wearing a “Free Meek Mill” t-shirt and said,
“I see you got the ‘Free Meek Mill’ T-shirt. Free Meek Mill, too, man. For real. You right.”
Upon Meek Mill’s release from jail earlier this year, he revealed that the beef was over. However, the performance in Boston Saturday night was the first time the two have shared a stage in years.
Drake brought Meek out to perform “Dreams & Nightmares (Intro). He then embraced him with a hug. In an Instagram post, Drake wrote:
This really gave me peace of mind tonight. Healing and moving forward created one of the most electric and gratifying moments of my career. @meekmill I’m happy that you are home and that we could find our way back to our joint purpose ???? (Cue the Kevin Garnett “anything is possible” adlib)
Now, let’s see if we can get Nicki and Cardi to follow suit.
