Ryan Coogler To Write And Direct Black Panther 2
Marvel is bringing Ryan Coogler back to Wakanda, according to new reports. The filmmaker, who was responsible for the first Black Panther movie, will be returning to the director’s chair to write and direct the film’s sequel.
It is intended for Coogler to begin writing for the film next year. Shooting is expected to take place in 2019 or 2020.
It’s obvious that Disney and Marvel would want to bring Coogler back, especially considering the rave reviews Black Panther received during its opening in February. The film grossed $700 million domestically, over $1.3 billion worldwide and is currently a contender for Oscar consideration.
As Coogler begins work on Black Panther, Marvel intends to release Captain Marvel, Avengers 4 and the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming in the meantime. Ryan Coogler is also working on Lebron James‘ Space Jam sequel and Wrong Answer starring Michael B. Jordan.
