Kevin Hart Criticized After Sending Condolences To Jussie Smollett
Much like other celebrities, Kevin Hart made an Instagram post about Jussie Smollet on Tuesday, offering condolences and prayers following the “Empire” actor being attacked at the hands of a hate crime by two men early Tuesday morning. Hart shared a photo of Smollet attaching his caption,
Sending prayers your way @jussiesmollett ….This is unbelievably sad. Why are we going backwards….this is disgusting. We as people have to do better. WTF is going on the world???? Why are we falling in love with hate???? God damn it people….Choose love…I repeat…Choose love. I will forever choose love and I will continue to teach my kids how to do the same. Stand strong brother

The post comes at a particular time, considering Hart’s more recent backlash regarding a 10-year-old homophobic tweet and the Oscars. The Academy announced Hart would be the host for the 2019 ceremony, but the position was quickly revoked after the tweet reemerged. Hart stood by his actions, stating he would not be apologizing again for the tweet because he apologized in the past, but it seems the public hasn’t forgotten.
After Hart offered his prayers to Smollett, Twitter reacted to the tweet, attempting to hold Hart accountable of his past remarks. Check out some reactions below.
