Jussie Smollett – Petition Launched To Bring Him Back For Empire’s Final Season + EP Calls His Exit ‘A Challenge’
A petition has been launched to bring back Jussie Smollett for the final season of ‘Empire’. On Monday, Fox announced that the show would end after the upcoming 6th season.
Fox Entertainment CEO Charlie Collier said,
“We are turning the final season into a television event. One of the great benefits of announcing a final season announce have the fans lean in have the finale they desire.”
A petition on Change.Org has urged that Jussie be allowed to return noting that ‘all charges have been dropped’. The petition reads,
Recent reports have stated Jussie Smollett’s future on “Empire” is uncertain. This is even after all charges against him have been dropped and there has not been a single piece of evidence shown to the public that shows he did what he was accused of doing. In fact, Jussie is the only party in the situation who’s story has been consistent while the CPD among multiple other parties have provably lied numerous times. The media has even reported false statements from “unnamed CPD sources” as 100% truth which has impacted the general public’s perception of the situation, especially for those who don’t know who Jussie is or what he stands for.

Meanwhile, one of the musical drama’s executive producers, Brett Mahoney, is speaking out about Smollett’s exit and the “challenging” job of moving the show forward without one of its main characters—and also a fan favorite. Prior to the end of the show being announced, Mahoney commented on how Empire continues now that Smollett is no longer apart of the show.
“Well, it’s a challenge, of course, because Jussie is such an important part of this ensemble. The idea of moving forward without him is a true challenge, and no decisions have been made as of yet of how we move forward. We’ll work that out when [we] reconvene the room and we come up with the creative. It’s difficult to see Jussie go through this because he is just an integral part of the ‘Empire’ family, and then with everything that’s going on, it’s also just the challenge of getting the show done.”

Discussing how things have been on-set since the Smollett drama began, Mahoney admitted it’s been tough:
“I think it’s just me and everyone involved in the show … you know, you’ve got to get the work done and get through it. But then you’re also dealing with real life, that these are real humans and that real people that are being impacted by these things. It’s a trying situation, no doubt.”
