Chris Brown Criticized For Failing To Appear In French Rape Case Proceedings: It Shows Disrespect!
Chris Brown is making headlines, after failing to appear in the formal confrontation with his alleged victim in the rape case against him dating back to January of this year.
While in Paris earlier this year, Chris Brown was accused by a woman who claimed he raped her at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Brown was arrested, but released from police custody without charges pending a further investigation. The formal confrontation in the case recently occurred and Brown was a no-show, prompting some harsh criticism from the victim’s American lawyer, attorney Gloria Allred.
Allred was highly upset that Brown didn’t show up for such a serious matter, stating:
“[Chris Brown] has thumbed his nose at and shown disrespect for the French legal system.”
She continued, adding more in-depth criticism:
“Brown’s failure to appear today is very unfair to my client, but I assure him that my client will not be deterred from seeking justice.”
Interestingly, the victim’s French attorney seems to have a completely different stance than Allred, stating that Brown was not legally obligated to attend the French confrontation.
Brown has maintained his innocence and denies raping the woman in question.
