Meghan Markle Will Not Attend Royal Family Meeting With Trump
Meghan Markle Refuses To Attend Royal Family Meeting With Trump
According to reports, new mom Meghan Markle will not attend the scheduled meeting with Trump like the rest of the Royal Family.
As a member of the internationally regarded and respected Royal Family, there are a long list of requirements and obligations, one of which includes meeting with the current POTUS on occasion. However, wife of Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, will not meet with Trump after speaking out against him on a number of occasions.
Reportedly, when Trump and Melania visit the U.K. for a three-day visit starting on June 3rd, Markle will be noticeably absent from all scheduled events Trump will be attending. Since it’s confirmed that Markle won’t be present, the Trumps’ visit will involve engagements with other Royal Family members, including Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Harry, Prince Charles, Duchess Camila, Prince William, and Kate Middleton.
Back in 2016, mere months before Trump was elected president, Markle gave an interview on the since-cancelled The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore, where she had this to say about a Trump presidency:
“Trump is divisive. Think about female voters alone, right? I think it was in 2012 the Republican Party lost the female vote by 12 points; that is a huge number and with as misogynistic as Trump is, and so vocal about it, that is a huge chunk of it.”
Some would argue that Markle is missing the Trump meeting because she just gave birth to her first child less than a month ago with Prince Harry. Although with all of the help and staff allotted to Royal Family members, surely, she could find someone to watch her son if meeting with Trump was especially important to her—it’s clearly not.
