DMX Felt Tempted To Use Drugs Again, Checked Into Rehab Preemptively
DMX’s (real name Earl Simmons) recent rehab stint was not due to him using drugs again, according to reports. The 48-year-old rapper, who has had a long battle with addiction, is said to have been tempted to use drugs again and to prevent this, he reportedly checked in preemptively. DMX is allegedly facing some personal stress which includes one of his children being very sick. He also may face more legal trouble. Reportedly, he’s using rehab to help him deal with his personal and professional life without drugs.
As previously reported, DMX announced that he was checking into rehab on social media.
DMX has spoken openly about his addiction to crack cocaine, which began when he was 14 years old after he smoked a marijuana cigarette laced with the drug. He also claims to have bipolar disorder.
On February 10, 2016, DMX was found lifeless in a Ramada Inn parking lot in Yonkers. He was resuscitated by first responders and given Narcan before being rushed to the hospital. A witness states he ingested some type of substance before collapsing, but police found no illegal substances on the property. DMX stated that it was from an asthma attack.
We send our prayers to DMX!
