Wendy Williams Gets Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame!
No one can deny Wendy Williams’ star power!
The radio host turned daytime talk show host received her iconic star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Thursday (Oct. 17).
Her 19-year-old son, Kevin Hunter, Jr. was also present.
Michael Blackson also came to support!
During her speech, which she unapologetically said she didn’t prepare for, she admitted that she was surprised she was offered a talk show to begin with.
“When we got together to do the talk show, I just remember saying to myself ‘I can’t believe they really just want me to be me on TV. They want me to be me so much, so I pulled back a little bit. Like, how do I look? What am I doing? What’s going on? And somehow we managed to make it work. You know like Slim Jims, I’m pulling notes out of my wig. Trying to figure out how to walk in my heels so I don’t fall.”
She added that she was the idea of doing it live was also a fear she had to overcome.
“When they told me it was a live talk show I was frightened. Doing it by myself, I had no problem with cause most of my career I’ve done by myself. Even in a room of a thousand people, I feel like the person who doesn’t belong.”
She went on to address her “tough year,” which has included a major health scare and filing for divorce from Kevin Hunter, Sr., her husband of more than 20 years, after he had a love child with another woman. She also encouraged the crowd to clap it up for their son, Kevin Hunter, Jr.
“The elephant in the room is that I’ve been having a very tough year. Slowly but surely I’m climbing out of the pit and this is one of those monumental days. If you don’t believe in yourself, who’s gonna believe in you? Sometimes life is a very, very lonely path, and you just gotta make some hard decisions. And one of those hard decisions… give some love to my son Kevin. Kevin is only 19 so he only knows me doing this. I’ve been behind a microphone for 30 years of my life now so he only knows mom up here, with suction.”
