Tory Lanez Drops Early 2000s-Themed “Chixtape 5” Album, Pays Homage To MySpace & Enlists T-Pain, Ashanti & Jagged Edge
Tory Lanez is bringing in Flashback Friday with a vengeance! His album, “Chixtape 5,” dropped at midnight with a deliciously nostalgic 2000’s theme. Tory’s website even reflected the interface of OG social media site, MySpace, to promote his latest drop.

The cover features a gorgeous photo of singer Ashanti rocking hoop earrings and a Juicy Couture T-Mobile Sidekick phone, with posters on her bedroom wall. The cover’s pink lighting is a nod to Keisha’s scene in the Hype Williams cult classic, “Belly.”
“Chixtape 5’s” first single is “Jerry Sprunger,” featuring a sample of the hit, “I’m Sprung,” and a verse from the man himself – T-Pain.
The album also features guest spots from some of the most recognizable artists of the era, such as Fabolous, Chris Brown, Jagged Edge, Jermaine Dupri, Snoop Dogg, and Ludacris. In true 2000s fashion, the body of work features skits from characters like Leah and Jalissa – voiced by “Love and Hip-Hop: New York” star Brittney F. Taylor. Peep the track listing’s “Limewire” layout! Wow!
