Whoopi Goldberg & Meghan McCain Address Their Heated Disagreement, Meghan Says: We Fight Like We’re Family, Calm Down
Whoopi Goldberg and Meghan McCain seemed to be at the point of no return after their heated exchange on ABC’s “The View” Monday (Dec. 16).
Now, the ladies have cleared the air and assured viewers that all is well Tuesday (Dec. 17).
Whoopi Goldberg said,
“We’re just gonna do a little cleanup before we do anything. Things get heated on this show. If you watch this show you know this has happened over the years. We’re really passionate, this is our jobs, we come in, we talk to each other, sometimes we’re not as polite as we could be. That’s just the way it is. But you’re gonna be deal with the same thing when you sit around the table with your family and you don’t agree, or somebody says something and goes off the rails.”
She added,
“This is part of what we do. This is no indication that women can’t sit around and talk. This is not an indication that we don’t know how to deal with each other on camera. This is happening in real-time. Stuff happens on this show in real-time. And everybody, wherever you sit in all of this, don’t assume that we’re sitting over here with butcher knives under the table. It just doesn’t work that way. This is our gig. And sometimes it goes off the rails, and it does. If you can say that’s never happened to any of y’all, and you’ve never had this happen, you understand where we’re coming from.”
She went to tell viewers,
“Everybody just calm down. It’s a TV show. We’re on together for an hour and we step in poopy, okay? We step in poopy and stuff happens. Everybody just calm down.”
Meghan McCain then broke her silence and shared her own thoughts, stating that Whoopi Goldberg was good friends with her dad, late Senator John McCain.
“Whoopi and I get along great. I love you very much. I’ve loved you for a long time. You were good friends with my dad. We fight like we’re family. It’s all good. We’re not tearing the set apart, calm down. All of you, okay? It’s all good.”
Whoopi said their disagreement is nothing new.
“It’s always been like this. People have clashed and gone back and forth, so…”
Take a look.
Meghan also took to Twitter shortly after the disagreement aired and compared it to “Game of Thrones”.
