‘Power’ Star Michael Rainey Jr. Says He’s Gotten Over 300 Death Threats Amid Claims His Character Shot Ghost
#WhoShotGhost has become more than a conversation for fans of STARZ hit series “Power.” The leading character, played by Omari Hardwick, was gunned down in his nightclub in the mid-season finale last year. While characters Tommy and Dre have been ruled out as options, many are convinced it was Ghost’s son Tariq, played by Michael Rainey Jr., who pulled the trigger as he’s had a serious vendetta against his father. The family dynamic is negative, to say the least, and Tariq had an issue with his dad leaving his mom for a federal agent and high school sweetheart, Angela. Tariq also disagreed with Ghost’s urges to turn himself in for shooting the dirty police officer who killed his twin sister, Raina.
A video was leaked that appeared to confirm Tariq was the shooter.
In the clip he’s holding a gun and saying,
“I can’t go back.”
Ghost then tells him,
“Hey, son, I love you, okay?”
Tariq is then seen pulling the trigger.
While the video has since been taken down for obvious copyright reasons, countless viewers saw it and took their anger out on Michael Rainey, Jr.
He shared a picture of him looking confused with the caption,
“Me going through my dms tryna figure out why I have 326 death threat messages”
Naturi Naughton, who plays his mother and Ghost’s wife, Tasha, thought it was pretty funny.

As for the leak, the show’s co-creator 50 Cent isn’t bothered. He said multiple endings have been taped, and viewers will have to wait until it airs to find out who really pulled the trigger.
Co-creator Courtney Kemp also previously said they taped multiple endings in case something leaks.
