Phylicia Rashad Says She Always Knew Her Daughter Condola Would Be An Actress
Many equate legendary actress Phylicia Rashad‘s legacy to her iconic roles, such as “The Cosby Show’s” Claire Huxtable. But her real legacy is proving to be her daughter – 33-year-old actress, Condola Rashad. Phylicia told “Good Morning America” that she unintentionally groomed her daughter for life on stage and in front of the camera – starting at the tender age of three:
“[She was] always with me at work, always.”

The 71-year-old screen star says that she believes Condola Rashad’s flame was lit when she witnessed her first Alvin Ailey dance performance:
“…the work ethic, the work itself. We went backstage, and she looked up at me and said, ‘When is it going to be my turn?'”
It wasn’t long before Condola Rashad asked her famous parents for dance lessons. Phylicia added:
“This is what she focused on as a child. What the child was asking for was instruction and I thought that was pretty cool.”
Condola Rashad’s credits include Sex and the City 2, Lifetime’s Steel Magnolias adaptation, and four Tony nominations. Meanwhile, her mother is still stunning audiences with her most recent work in Tyler Perry‘s Netflix film, A Fall From Grace.
