Da Brat Never Discussed Her Sexuality Because “In The 90’s It Wasn’t Cool”, Says Rumored Fiancee Loves Her For Who She Is

Rapper/media personality Shawntae “Da Brat” Harris has sold millions of records worldwide, starred in reality TV shows, toured the world, and even conquered incarceration, and there’s still one thing she’s never done: confirmed her sexuality. For many years, fans and haters alike have speculated whether Da Brat was romantically interested in men or women due to her hard rapping style and tomboyish wardrobe. However, she’s never confirmed or denied the rumors in real time. The closest Da Brat has come to discussing her personal life was mentioning past flings and crushes with fellow Atlanta celebrities, Usher and Kirk Frost, well after their dealings.

But amid her recent confirming of her engagement to entrepreneur Jesseca “BB Judy” Dupart, Brat has finally come out to her “Rickey Smiley Morning Show” family. She says,

“I guess I should just say a few things about it, since this is the show that I’m on, and everybody else talking about it…”

She detailed:

“I always been an advocate for privacy pretty much to protect the interest of the other party involved, ’cause if you not used to this life and the scrutiny that come with it – it can break you. And I’ve been getting talked about for way over twenty years and more, so I’m kind of conditioned for it. And my coat of armour is pretty thick, so I’ve learned what to say and what not to say, and that battles that I decide to choose to fight – which most of the time I just stay silent and just let people speculate. But I’ve never confirmed anything, because you know in the 90s it wasn’t cool back in the day. I’m kid of a little bit nervous, ’cause I’m not used to really, like, talking about this thing because I’m just really not a public person when it comes to my personal life. But when you get blessed and somebody, when you wasn’t even lookin’ for nobody, love you like you never been loved before – it’s like a whole different experience. She loves me from my hair follicles down to my toenails. She inspires me. She believes in me. She motivates me. She accepts me for who I am- my past, my faults, my mistakes. We talk about any and everything- like there’s nothing I can’t talk about with her. And on top of that, she spoils me! I’m already Da Brat, so I’m just blessed all the way around. And I’ve never- I mean, in all my years- I came out in the 90s, and I’ve never really opened up about anything personal. With new levels come new devils, and we don’t care because we strong. And we can get through anything together. And I’m happy to say I have somebody like BB Judy.”
