Lana Del Rey Name Drops Beyonce & Cardi B For ‘Having #1 Songs w/ Wearing No Clothes’, Denies Claims She ‘Glamorizes Abuse’
Alternative singer Lana Del Rey is seemingly fed up with sultry women occupying the top slots of the Billboard charts. The 34-year-old crooner took to Instagram in the wee hours of the morning to air her grievances over critics’ claims that she “glamorizes abuse.” In the meantime, Lana Del Rey controversially used the phrase “the culture,” and name-dropped artists such as Beyonce, Cardi B, and Nicki Minaj for what she alludes to as their racy lyrics recently making Billboard history.

Lana Del Rey’s IG statement read:
“Question for the culture:
Now that Doja Cat, Ariana, Camila, Cardi B, Kehlani and Nicki Minaj and Beyonce have had number ones with songs about being sexy, wearing no clothes, f*cking, cheating etc – can I please go back to singing about being embodied, feeling beautiful by being in love even if the relationship is not perfect, or dancing for money – or whatever I want – without being crucified or saying that I’m glamorizing abuse?????”

Lana Del Rey continued:
“Im fed up with female writers and alt singers saying that I glamorize abuse when in reality I’m just a glamorous person singing about the realities of what we are all now seeing are very prevalent emotionally abusive relationships all over the world. With all of the topics women are finally allowed to explore I just want to say over the last ten years I think it’s pathetic that my minor lyrical exploration detailing my sometimes submissive or passive roles in my relationships has often made people say Ive set women back hundreds of years…Anyways none of this has anything to do about much…”
Yikes! The Grammy nominee went on to promote her upcoming album and poetry books.
