Waka Flocka Flame Takes On A New Role Inspired By His Late Brother: I’m Officially Dedicating My Life To Suicide Prevention
Waka Flocka Flame reportedly retired from the rap game in 2018, and has made being a husband and manager to Tammy Rivera his business, as shown on their WEtv reality show, “Waka & Tammy.”
But Waka Flocka Flame is adding a new feather to his hat. The “O Let’s Do It” rapper wants to lend his influence and real life experience to suicide prevention and awareness. Waka recently tweeted:
“I’m officially dedicating my life to suicide prevention and mental illness!!! Y’all not alone Waka Flocka Flame is with y’all now!!!!”

In 2013, Waka’s 27-year-old brother Kayo Redd (real name Coades Scott) committed suicide, succumbing to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Perhaps Kayo’s death is the reason for Waka Flocka Flame’s retirement in the first place. In an episode of Viceland’s “The Therapist,” he revealed:
“Before my little brother killed himself, I didn’t pick up the phone. And I seen him call. I’m like, ‘F*ck, let me call Kayo back soon as this sh*t over with.’ I call him back; no answer…I don’t know who else he called, but what if I picked that call up? That’s when I said, ‘Yo, this rap sh*t? F*ck this rap sh*t!’ I’m trying to work so much to keep everybody happy, that reality is going by.”
