Denzel Washington Serves As Barrier During An Alleged Arrest Of Homeless Man

In West Hollywood, CA a video is taken of a man who appears to be actor icon, Denzel Washington, stepping in as a barrier of an alleged arrest of a homeless man. A social media user named @realchefashton captions the post on his page,

#DenzelWashington saw a commotion in West Hollywood with cops and an unarmed distressed homeless man.  He gets out of his car, and serves as a barrier between what could have resulted in another murder of an unarmed Black man.  This man was arrested safely.

The exact circumstances are not clear but the man presumed to be Denzel Washington can be seen standing to the right of the policer officers, wearing a light-colored grey shirt, calmly using hand gestures as he speaks to both of the officers and a black man standing across from them, (allegedly, an unarmed homeless man, wearing a blue hoodie).

The video clip further shows the officers detaining the man in the blue hoodie in handcuffs while the man in gray shirt stands closely, wearing a mask and holding items in his hands. He proceeds to try putting what appears to be a bottle of liquid in the detainees hoodie, but the video shortly cuts off after.

As clearer photos began to surface online, fans of the ‘Training Day‘ actor react.

Emery Mack Varrie II posts this caption along with still photos of the incident:

“So, apparently #DenzelWashington saw a commotion on the streets of West Hollywood with the cops and an unarmed distressed homeless man.  He gets out of his car, and serves as a barrier between what could have likely ended up in a fatality.  He got the man some food and drink and calmed him.  Police were able to arrest him without incident.  This is how you use your celebrity.  #salute #whatcape”

@TheNerdyEsq showed her love for legendary actor.  She proclaimed,

“DENZEL F*CKING WASHINGTON”

Another Twitter user chimed in with support,

“Just when I thought I couldn’t love that man anymore.”

But this doesn’t seem to sit too well with one fan. She writes,

“He’s a civilian though he shouldn’t have to ‘use his celebrity’ in this way or in this situation.  I am absolutely on board with what he did but man, this is too much.”
