Pharrell Williams is producing the series under his multi-media creative company, I Am Other, which serves as the umbrella for other creative endeavors launched by the “Happy” star. I Am Other, launched a Youtube channel May 12, 2012 and released original content, including Issa Rae’sAwkward Black Girl” series.

Pharrell has been staying busy. He has teamed up with Black-ish creator, Kenya Barris to develop a feature-length Juneteenth musical, also for Netflix. The inspiration for the musical came from the season 4 opener episode of Black-ish which is ironically titled  “Juneteenth: The Musical.”
