Nick Cannon Called A ‘Sellout’ After Apologizing For Anti-Semitic Comments + Fans Worried After He Tweets ‘Y’all Can Have This Planet, I’m Out!’

Media Mogul Nick Cannon may be learning first hand that you can’t please everyone.

As previously reported, 39-year-old Nick Cannon received backlash earlier this week after he made comments on his podcast that some considered to be anti-semitic.

Following his statements going viral, ViacomCBS made the decision to fire Nick Cannon. The media company released a statement and said:

“While we support ongoing education and dialogue in the fight against bigotry, we are deeply troubled that Nick has failed to acknowledge or apologize for perpetuating anti-Semitism, and we are terminating our relationship with him. We are committed to doing better in our response to incidents of anti-Semitism, racism, and bigotry. ViacomCBS will have further announcements on our efforts to combat hate of all kinds.”

Initially, Nick Cannon seemed to stand by the comments he made and said that he was disappointed in ViacomCBS’s decision to fire him.

However, on July 15th the ‘Drumline’ star took to Facebook to offer an apology for what he said on his podcast.

“I must apologize to my Jewish Brothers and Sisters for putting them in such a painful position, which was never my intention, but I know this whole situation has hurt many people and together we will make it right. I have dedicated my daily efforts to continuing conversations to bring the Jewish community and the African American community closer together, embracing our differences and sharing our commonalities.”

He’s also recently shared photos of himself sitting down with someone from Simon Wiesenthal Center, an organization that fights against antisemitism.

As heartfelt as his apology is – not everyone is here for it. On Friday, July 17th, Nick Cannon shared via Twitter that he’s been receiving backlash again. This time however for apologizing for his initial comments.

“I hurt an entire community and it pained me to my core, I thought it couldn’t get any worse. Then I watched my own community turn on me and call me a sell-out for apologizing. Goodnight. Enjoy Earth”

He also Tweeted,

“Y’all can have this planet. I’m out!”

Many people were left concerned for his safety and well being following his last tweet.
