Elon Musk Urged Kanye To Run In 2024, Not 2020 + Says ‘I Talked To Him & He Seemed Fine, But There Seems To Be A Lot Of Issues’

Elon Musk is one of the latest to speak out about Kanye West’s action. The Tesla CEO, who backed Kanye West’s run for president, told The New York Times, 

“I’ve done my best to convince him that 2024 would be better than 2020.”

Though Elon Musk said he didn’t believe Kanye West had “his stuff together” for the leadership position, he still backed his friend when Kanye West made the announcement on Twitter.

Kanye tweeted:

“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future.  I am running for president of the United States! #2020VISION”

In response, Elon Musk tweeted,

You have my full support!

During West’s first presidential rally, he made several controversial statements that caused an uproar of both fury and concern for his fans.

Amidst the public scrutiny on social media, on July 20, Kanye went on a Twitter rant of his own inciting a #prayforye trend out of concern for the rapper turned designer’s health.

During Kanye’s Twitter outburst, Elon Musk says that he reached out to his friend whom he’s known “for at least ten years, maybe longer.”  He stated,

“When he was about a third of the way through the tweet rampage, just to see if he was doing okay, I sent him a text saying, ‘You know, just checking on you, a lot of people are worried, just wondering if you’re okay.'”

He continued,

“And he called me back and he actually seemed fine.  He FaceTimed me and he was in Wyoming with a bunch of friends.  He seemed fine on the call.  But it sounds like things are, you know, not fine.  There seem to be a lot of issues.”

His issues, according to Kanye’s wife, businesswoman and reality star, Kim Kardashian West, stem from his mental health issues with his bi-polar disorder.  The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star broke her silence in a public statement in a series of Instagram posts regarding her husband.

Kim Kardashian West explained that while she understands “Kanye is subject to criticism because he is a public figure,” she is still asking that the public give them “compassion and empathy” so they can get through this time.
