Joe Budden Says Spotify Offered Him A ‘Bum-*ss Deal’ & He Doesn’t Know Where His Podcast Will Be After His Contract Ends

Joe Budden’s podcast, ‘The Joe Budden Podcast with Rory and Mal’ has exclusively streamed on Spotify for the past two years, however, that could be coming to an end. Recently Joe Budden has shared that he is no longer happy with the streaming platform and doesn’t know where his show will be once his contract ends on September 23rd. During the latest episode of his podcast, he shared

“September 23rd, I cannot tell you where this podcast will be. But as it stands, I can tell you where it will not be, and that is Spotify.”

Joe Budden also spoke on the contract renewal deal that Spotify offered him and called it a

“bum-*ss deal”

Joe Budden said that Spotify has ‘undermined and undervalued’ his podcast and pointed out a recent deal the streaming service signed agreeing to pay over $1oo million in cash to acquire the rights to Bill Simmons‘ podcast and media company The Ringer. The former Love & Hip-Hop New York castmember also accused Spotify of ‘robbing’ his listeners as a way to build up their broader podcast strategy. He said

“You pillage the audience from the podcast, and you’ve continued to pillage each step of the way without any regard [for the listeners]”

He also said that Spotify never cared about his podcast individually but instead

“only cared about [its] contribution to the platform.”

Spotify has responded to Joe Budden sharing how unhappy he is with the network and released a statement that said

“It was our desire to keep Joe Budden on Spotify. As Joe referenced on his show, we made him a considerable offer — one that was significantly larger and many times the value of the existing agreement and reflective of the current market and size of his audience. Unfortunately, we could not come to terms and we respect his wishes to find a new home for his show.”

Crissle West, who is the co-host of the hit podcast The Read, seemingly commented on Joe Budden’s comments towards Spotify and tweeted

“the same useless n*gga who tried to tell me EYE signed a bad deal is leaving spotify because HE signed a bad deal.

Others also took to Twitter to share their reaction to Joe Budden’s podcast potentially leaving Spotify.

What are your thoughts on this entire situation? Let us know in the comments.
