Kim Kardashian Freezes Facebook, Instagram Accounts To Protest Social Media Hate, Misinformation
Kim Kardashian is freezing her Facebook and Instagram accounts today (Sept. 16th) to protest misinformation on on social media. Sharing the news on social media, she writes:
“Misinformation shared on social media has a serious impact on our elections and undermines our democracy. Please join me tomorrow when I will be “freezing” my Instagram and FB account to tell Facebook to #StopHateForProfit

Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, and Kerry Washington are among those also taking part in the protest. The coalition of civil rights groups that organized July’s Facebook ad boycott announced it was calling on companies and celebrities to stop posting on Instagram for a day to protest Facebook’s handling of hate on its platform and to call on the company to stop allowing politicians to lie in political ads.
Kardashian West has 188 followers on Instagram and 30 million on Facebook.
