R. Kelly – Inmate Who Attacked Singer Sentenced To Life In Prison For Unrelated Case
The man who attacked R. Kelly behind bars will be spending the rest of his life there.
Earlier this year, it was reported that the singer was the victim of a physical attack at the hands of a fellow inmate, Jeremiah Shane Farmer, 39.
Farmer has now been sentenced to life in prison for taking part in a racketeering plan that left two elderly people murdered back in 1999, according to The Chicago Sun-Times. A judge sided with prosecutors who urged for Farmer to be sentenced to life in prison, stating that he shot a woman after she continued to sell drugs in a certain area.
R. Kelly, who’s in jail awaiting his own trial for child pornography and other charges, attempted to use the attack as a reason he should get released. But the inmate was relocated to a different prison, meaning he no longer posed a threat against R. Kelly, according to a judge.
Most recently, his lawyer Michael Leonard argued that no one tried to prevent R. Kelly from getting attacked.
“The attacker roamed a great distance within the MCC before carrying out that act, without any opposition. It is undisputed that, as a result, Mr. Kelly has suffered significant physical and psychological injuries.”
He continued,
“An unresolved issue remains as to whether MCC personnel encouraged, and then allowed, a beating of Mr. Kelly to take place. That alone merits an evidentiary hearing.”
His other lawyer, Steve Greenberg, teased that “big changes” were on the horizon for R. Kelly.
