Rapper Lil Baby is in the season of giving, as he helped throw a birthday party for Gianna Floyd, the daughter of George Floyd.
According to reports, the seven-year-old’s birthday party happened Wednesday night (Dec. 16) in Atlanta, and the rapper took care of all of the expenses.

Although Lil baby paid the bill, the event was arranged by Atlanta restaurant owners, Ericka and William Platt, as well as NBA star Stephen Jackson, who was like a brother to George Floyd.

Party planning for the event began in July, just a couple of months after George Floyd’s death. Stephen Jackson, who became the face of wanting justice for George Floyd, says of Gianna:
“I think I adopted another child, God put me into this position. I’m going to do the best that I can.”

Gianna’s mom, Roxie Washington adds:
“This is a very difficult time for my daughter, so we’re very grateful that our extended family is creating such a special experience for Gianna on her first birthday without her father.”
Check out news footage from the party below:
George Floyd was a black man killed while in custody at the hands of four officers–one officer (Derek Chauvin), kneeling on his neck for more than 8 minutes. The tragic and untimely death of Floyd was captured on camera and sent the nation into a worldwide protest against racial injustice.
