Rick James Limited TV Series In Development
A limited series on the late singer Rick James is currently in the works. According to reports, Universal Studio Group’s UCP is working on bringing Rick James’s story to life. The series will reportedly be called Super Freak and is described as
“a funkadelic mix of music biopic and true crime.”
The show will follow Rick James’ life and career. It will take place in the 1990s amid the infamous trial he went through for assault and kidnapping charges.
In 1991 Rick James and his then-girlfriend Tanya Hijazi were accused of holding a young woman against her will for six days while they sexually/physically assaulted her.
Rick James‘ daughter, Ty James, will act as one of the executive producers of the series.
theJasmineBRAND exclusively reported last year that a Rick James movie is also on the way! According to our sources, the movie will follow the highs and lows of the singer’s life and his career.
