Chico DeBarge Charged With Drug Possession & False Impersonation, Allegedly Pretended To Be Brother James DeBarge During Traffic Stop
Singer Chico DeBarge of the legendary DeBarge family has reportedly been charged for drug possession, and false impersonation for allegedly pretending to be his brother, James DeBarge, during a traffic stop.
According to reports, Chico DeBarge was pulled over in Burbank, Calif. for driving with his headlights off earlier this month. The vehicle also didn’t have a license plate. He allegedly didn’t have his drivers license on him, but reportedly told police he was James DeBarge.
He reportedly had two women in the car with him when police found methamphetamines and heroin while conducting a search. He was taken into custody and correctly identified as himself, not his brother while getting booked.
He is charged with drug possession, DUI, and false impersonation. He was released on bail Friday, Jan. 22nd, after spending 10 days in jail.
This is his latest arrest after also getting booked in 2019 and 2007 for drug possession.
As previously reported, in Nov. 2019 police approached Chico DeBarge in a Walmart parking lot in Burbank, Calif. after seeing him trying to use a wire to get into an SUV. They searched him and came across meth in his pocket and later found drug paraphernalia in the car. He was reportedly using the wire after he locked his keys inside of the car. He was released shortly after.
