Caitlyn Jenner Announces She’s Running For California Governor

Caitlyn Jenner could be on the next gubernatorial ballot for California residents.

The former Keeping Up With The Kardashians star and gold-medal-winning Olympian has made her bid for California governor public. Caitlyn Jenner shared the news this morning via Instagram.

In the Instagram post, Caitlyn Jenner elaborates on her decision, stating:

“California has been my home for nearly 50 years… But for the past decade, we have seen the glimmer of the Golden State reduced by one-party rule that places politics over progress and special interests over people.”

She also makes claims of intending to:

“…turn this state around and finally clean up the damage Newsom [the current governor of California] has done to this state.”

Jenner is reportedly a registered Republican who voted for Trump back in 2016. However, she claims that she did not vote for him in 2020 on account of his anti-trans sentiments. Since coming out as transgender back in 2015, Jenner has been a staunch advocate for transgender rights.

It is unclear whether or not Jenner will marker herself as a Republican, Independent, or Libertarian for her campaign. However, since Newsom is a Democratic incumbent–and considering her sentiments regarding the current state of California’s liberal lean–it doesn’t look like she will be running as a Democratic governor.

Her campaign team also reportedly includes various individuals who were tied to the Trump administration.
